The Mist

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Tom Sawyer is a book written by Mark Twain. Tom, the main character, is a boy who dreams of havng big adventures with his friends in St. Pittsburg. They presence a murder, after a series of events Tom tells on the murderer, who manages to escape. The murderer is on the lose and seeking revenge on Tom. In fact, Tom does face some scary obstacles and has some amazing adventures. Including being trapped in a cave with a girl he loves. All these and more happens in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer I really enjoyed reading Tom Sawyer.

I think it was awesome how the author managed to show us two differnt kind of Toms; a very strong and clever boy, but also a sad and vulnerable Tom. I loved the story itself and the development and order of the events, but what I liked the most was the resolution. Tom Sawyer is agreat book because it shows the human being and it's various personalities according to the situations. I think my uncle would fully enjoy this book because he loves to read about different times and customs.

City of Bones is a book written by Cassandra Clare, it is about shadowhunters which are humans whose blood is mixed with an angels´. The book revolves around Clary, who thinks she is normal but her mom mysteriously disappears. Clary needs to stay with Jace, a shadowhunter. After a series of events, Clary discovers her mom was a shadowhunter who abandonded her people because she was escaping from her husband, Valentine, all these happened before the innocent Clary was born. Valentine seeks revenge on all shadowhunters, he wants to acquire an instrument able to end the shadowhunters existence. There´s only one problem; the cup has been missing for several years, Valentine thinks Clary´s mom has it and that´s why he captured her. Everyone is trying to get the mortal cup, Valentine wants it for evil purposes, shadowhunters want it to prevent the cup from falling in the wrong hands. Who is trustworthy? Who isn´t? Everything is uncertain when you talk about shadowhunters.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it is a story I reallly liked. I loved every single detail. I consider amazing that the author is able to create another world in which neither of us has been, and yet it seems so familiar and appealing. This book had me interested since the first page I read, even though the book is purely fiction, to me it seems very real. I identified with Clary, the protagonist, because she is so innocent in a world she is just discovering. I would recommend this book to whoever likes books like Hunger Games, The Lying Game, etc.

CITY OF BONES

Matched is a book written by Ally Condie. This book takes place in a near future where The Society (a new type of government), has records on every person and how they would react to every situation.  When people turn sixteen they attend to their matching ceremony, where The Society tells them to whom they will marry-who is their optimum match. Cassia, the main character, gets very excited when she discovers that her match is her best friend, Xander. When she arrives home she introduces the microcard The Society gave her to see her match´s information, she knows everything about Xander but maybe the card might tell her something new. There is only one problem, the face that appears in the screen is not Xander´s. Cassia is in shock, it is impossible, The Society doesn´t make mistakes, The Society is perfect. To make it worst, the face that appeared on the screen didn´t belong to a stranger but to the boy who lived in her street, Ky Markham. The mysterious boy, the one no one ever talked about- Ky Markham.

I really liked this book and the development of the story. I can´t believe an author has such imagination as to create an utopian world, I really admire the creativity of the author, it would have never ocurred to me that there might be a world where we are all predectible. I would recommend this book to whoever likes Divergent, The Hunger Games or Mortal Instruments. It is avery good book and I really enjoyed every singla page of it.

Matched

The Selection

Illea, a nation created not so many years ago, created from the ashes of an ancient country known as The United States of America was finally having The Selection. The Selection gave the opportunity to many girls of low and high castes to marry Prince Maxon. A girl from each province would be chosen to go to the palace where she would have to compete for Maxon´s love against 34 gorgeous girls. The winner could only be chosen by Maxon himself, she would become queen of Illea. America Singer had been chosen, but unlike the other girls she had enetered The Selection by mistake, she didn´t want Maxon´s love, she already had a boyfriend, one that nobody knew existed. Nevertheless, America must leave to the castle, she is only doing it for her family which is fighting to survive in a very poor nation. Everything changes when America reaizes that Maxon isn´t the bratty and spoiled kid she thought he was, but a smart and gorgeous prince. Who will Maxon choose? Does America want to be chosen?

I loved how the author presented the innequality among the castes. Once you think about it, it isn´t much different from real life, some starve to death while others are full enogh to throw up. I really liked that the book was narrated from America´s point of view because she has very controversial thoughts that make the book interesting. I would recommend this book to teenage girls who enjoy reading and love immersing themselves in a world of fantasy. This is a fairytale unlike many others, it´s much more interestinga and worth reading.

The Mist, written by Stephen King, starts out with a storm out of the ordinary, it´s way too strong and way too long. When the storm is finally over, David, his wife and their five-year old son see nothing but destruction. Billy, their son, notices an oddly white and fast-moving mist in the distance, they pay no attention to it. David decides, along with his son, to go to the grocery story to get some food while his wife stays at home and tries to organize the mess the storm left behind. After a short ride to the store, and after they were already inside finding the stuff they needed, the white fog that they had seen earlier surrounds the store. The fog is way too white, nothing is visible on the outside, many people decide to ignore the mist and go outside. Shortly after they leave the grocery store, screams of pain are heard and horror are heard, follwed by the growls of things that are certainly not animal. The situation in the store becomes chaotic, after two days people start going crazy and start talking about human sacrifice. For this reason, David along with five other people and his son decide to risk everything and to leave the store despite the monsters that walked outside. They have a theory that if they make it to the car and close all the windows, the monster won´t attack them. They start planning everything out, but will they survive the seemingly short walk to the car? Will their theory be right or will the mosnters just rip the car apart?

Personally I really enjoyed reading this book, I loved how the author managed to make me scared of monsters creeeping in the dark again. I think he has an immense talent to depict scary situations. I also liked how there´s not a single boring or slow part in this book, the book was so catching, it was hard to put it down. There´s only one thing that I didn´t like that much, the ending, I wanted more, I feel that the author cut the book off not really giving it a conlcusion, but the rest of it was amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys creepy stuff and who has a highly visual imagination so that they can see in their heads the horrorizing creatures.
